Char Dham by Road — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath tour package — 10N/11D itinerary, price and inclusions
The most pilgrim-heavy Indian journey there is — a ten-night road circuit of the four sacred Himalayan shrines of Uttarakhand: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. Beginning with the Ganga aarti at Haridwar's Har Ki Pauri, the route winds through mountain towns with overnight halts at Barkot, Uttarkashi, Guptkashi, Kedarnath, Joshimath, Badrinath and Rishikesh. Sattvic or Jain vegetarian meals are served throughout, and travel is by AC Innova or Tempo Traveller. Yamunotri and Kedarnath involve steep treks (ponies and palki available at extra cost; the Kedarnath pony or helicopter add-on is popular). Honest note: this is a physically demanding, high-altitude pilgrimage on long mountain roads with basic hotels and dharamshalas in places, and weather can disrupt schedules — it rewards patience and devotion over comfort. starting at INR 38,000 per person. Covers Haridwar 1N, Barkot 1N, Uttarkashi 1N, Guptkashi 1N, Kedarnath 1N, Joshimath 1N, Badrinath 1N, Rudraprayag/Rishikesh 2N.

Char Dham by Road — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath day-by-day itinerary (10N/11D)
Day 1: Arrival in Haridwar, Ganga aarti
Arrive in Haridwar and check in. In the evening witness the spectacular Ganga aarti at Har Ki Pauri, as hundreds of lamps float on the river and priests perform the ritual. It is a moving start to the yatra. Rest well before the long mountain drives begin.
Day 2: Haridwar to Barkot
Drive through the hills towards Barkot, the base for Yamunotri, with scenic stops along the way. The mountain roads are winding, so allow a full day. Check in at Barkot and rest in preparation for the Yamunotri trek, the first of the four dhams.
Day 3: Yamunotri darshan
Drive to Janki Chatti and trek (or take a pony or palki, at extra cost) the steep route up to Yamunotri temple, the source shrine of the Yamuna. Cook rice in the hot spring of Surya Kund as offering, then return to Barkot or onward, depending on timing.
Day 4: Travel to Uttarkashi
Drive to Uttarkashi, an important town on the way to Gangotri, set on the banks of the Bhagirathi. On arrival, visit the Vishwanath temple if time allows. Check in and rest, ready for the Gangotri darshan the following day along the mountain road.
Day 5: Gangotri darshan
Drive up to Gangotri, the source shrine of the Ganga (here the Bhagirathi), through dramatic Himalayan scenery. Take darshan at the temple and spend time by the rushing river. Return to Uttarkashi or an intermediate halt for the night after the long round trip.
Day 6: Travel to Guptkashi
A long drive across the hills towards Guptkashi, the base area for Kedarnath, with river and valley views along the way. Check in and rest. Prepare your essentials for tomorrow's trek to Kedarnath, the most demanding of the four shrines.
Day 7: Trek to Kedarnath
Drive to the trek base and ascend the steep route to Kedarnath (around 16-18 km on foot, or by pony, palki or helicopter add-on, all at extra cost). Take darshan at the revered Shiva shrine set against snow peaks, and stay overnight near the temple.
Day 8: Kedarnath to Joshimath
After morning darshan at Kedarnath, descend the trek and drive onward towards Joshimath, the gateway for Badrinath. It is a long day combining trek and road, so pace yourself. Check in at Joshimath and rest ahead of the final dham tomorrow.
Day 9: Badrinath darshan
Drive up to Badrinath and take darshan at the colourful temple of Lord Vishnu, the last of the Char Dham, after a dip in the hot Tapt Kund. Visit nearby Mana, the last village before the Tibet border. Stay overnight at Badrinath amid the high peaks.
Day 10: Travel to Rishikesh
Begin the long descent from the mountains towards Rishikesh (or Rudraprayag), watching the landscape soften into forested foothills. Check in and relax after the demanding circuit. In the evening you may catch the Ganga aarti at Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh.
Day 11: Departure
After breakfast, transfer onward from Rishikesh/Haridwar towards Delhi or your departure point, completing the Char Dham yatra. Allow ample time for the drive out of the hills.
