Iceland Pure Veg Departure package highlights

Iceland Pure Veg Departure day-by-day itinerary (8N/9D)

Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavik

Arrive at Keflavik Airport and transfer to your Reykjavik hotel. Settle in and meet your tour manager and onboard chef. If time and energy allow, stroll the compact city centre, see Hallgrimskirkja church from outside and the Sun Voyager sculpture by the waterfront before your first pure-veg dinner.

Day 2: Golden Circle tour

Spend a full day on the classic Golden Circle: Thingvellir National Park where two tectonic plates meet, the Geysir geothermal field with the spouting Strokkur, and the powerful two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall. Return to Reykjavik for the evening, with a Northern Lights chase if skies are clear.

Day 3: Reykjavik and Blue Lagoon area

Take a guided Reykjavik city tour covering the harbour, Harpa concert hall and Perlan. There is free time for shopping on Laugavegur. Many travellers add an optional soak at a geothermal lagoon. Overnight in Reykjavik with another aurora attempt weather permitting.

Day 4: Reykjavik free day

Enjoy a relaxed day in the capital or join an optional excursion such as Snaefellsnes peninsula or whale watching from the old harbour. Your chef handles all meals. This buffer day improves the odds of catching the Northern Lights over your four Reykjavik nights.

Day 5: South Coast to Vik

Drive the dramatic South Coast, stopping at Seljalandsfoss (which you can walk behind) and the mighty Skogafoss waterfall. Continue to the village of Vik, famous for Reynisfjara black-sand beach with its basalt columns and sea stacks. Overnight in the Vik area.

Day 6: Vik and glacier country

Explore further east toward the glaciers, with views of Myrdalsjokull. Depending on the season you may visit Solheimajokull glacier tongue or enjoy the coastal scenery and dramatic cliffs around Dyrholaey. Second night in Vik with an aurora watch if clear.

Day 7: Travel north to Akureyri

Make the long, scenic transfer north toward Akureyri, Iceland's capital of the north, passing changing volcanic landscapes. On arrival settle into your hotel by the fjord. Evening meal prepared by your chef and time to rest after the journey.

Day 8: Akureyri whale watching

Join a whale-watching cruise from Akureyri or nearby Husavik, one of the best spots in Iceland to see humpbacks and minke whales (sightings are seasonal and weather-dependent). Time permitting, see the Godafoss waterfall. Final aurora chance overnight in the north.

Day 9: Departure

After breakfast, transfer for your onward flight from Akureyri or back to Keflavik for your international departure, carrying memories of waterfalls, black beaches and whale-filled fjords.
