How FlightGPT works
Quick answer: FlightGPT is a free AI flight and hotel search for Indian travellers. You type a trip in plain English; it sends the search to every source it compares — Google Flights listings and partner travel agents — merges duplicate flights, shows the cheapest offer for each, and opens that provider's site when you tap. It doesn't sell tickets.
What happens when you search
Take a typical query: "Delhi to Mumbai on 15 November, morning, non-stop". Five things happen, usually in 5–15 seconds.
- The AI reads the trip. It pulls out the route, the date, the number of passengers, the cabin and any filters you gave (non-stop, a time of day, an airline to include or avoid). If something it needs is missing — most often the date — it asks you instead of guessing.
- The search goes to every source at once. Today that is Google Flights listings and partner travel agents — currently Tatkal Flights, an agent that sells series and agent fares you don't always see on airline sites.
- Duplicate flights are merged. IndiGo 6E 2134 at 06:40 is one row, even when two sources sell it.
- The cheapest offer per flight is the one you see. Rows are sorted cheapest first.
- A tap opens that provider in a new tab. You enter traveller details and pay on their site. FlightGPT never asks for card details or passport numbers.
Each source has a time limit — 25 seconds for Google Flights listings and 20 seconds for Tatkal Flights. If one doesn't answer in time, FlightGPT shows what the others returned and tells you it couldn't reach a partner, rather than pretending the route has no flights.
Where the fares come from
| Source | What it covers | What a tap opens |
|---|---|---|
| Google Flights listings | Fares Google shows for that route and date, from airlines and online travel agents | Google Flights' one-way search for your route, date, passengers and cabin; you pick an airline or agent there |
| Tatkal Flights (partner travel agent) | Series and agent fares, mostly on domestic and short-haul international routes | Tatkal Flights' booking page for that exact flight |
Two limits are worth knowing. Searches that include children or infants skip the Google Flights source for now, because it returns adult fares only — those searches show partner fares. Google Flights listings bring in the airlines and online travel agents; the partner agents add something they don't: series fares are bought in bulk by agents and are often below what the airline's own site shows on the same flight. Other travel agents can list their fares through the FlightGPT partner programme.
How round trips work
Ask for a return — "Delhi to Dubai, 1 Nov, back 5 Nov" — and FlightGPT runs two one-way searches, then pairs them into bundles: an outbound and a return flight with one round-trip total, cheapest first. A return never leaves before the outbound lands, and on a same-day trip it leaves at least 90 minutes after.
One tap on a bundle opens Google Flights' round-trip search with both dates filled in. Tatkal Flights links are for one flight at a time, so Tatkal fares don't appear in bundles yet. Airlines sometimes price a return ticket differently from two one-ways, so the round-trip page can show a different total from the bundle — compare the two before you pay.
Why a fare can change after you tap
Every fare FlightGPT shows is the provider's quote at the moment of the search. Seats sell and airlines reprice constantly, so the fare can change at any time until you pay — FlightGPT never guarantees a price. If you repeat the same search within a few minutes, FlightGPT may reuse the results it just fetched; after about 10 minutes it fetches fresh ones. If the provider's page shows a different fare from the one you tapped, the fare moved after the search: search again and compare.
How FlightGPT makes money
Searching and chatting are free. Partner travel agents pay FlightGPT either a commission when you book through a FlightGPT link, or a fee for each visit FlightGPT sends them. Nothing is added to the fare you see — FlightGPT shows the provider's own price. Results are ranked by price, and a partner cannot pay for a higher position. The partner rules are public at flightgpt.in/partners.
Hotels, visas and everything else
- Hotel GPT works the same way as flights: describe the stay ("3-star near Calangute under ₹4,000"), it compares live rates and you book on the provider's site. See cheap hotels by city.
- Visa GPT answers visa questions for Indian passport holders, with guides for 160+ countries, and offers paid visa assistance.
- Holiday packages, outstation cabs, activities, travel insurance, forex cards and travel eSIMs use a concierge chat: you describe what you need and the FlightGPT travel team follows up by email.
What FlightGPT doesn't do (yet)
- No fare alerts — search again every few days, or use the price tracking on Google Flights.
- One date per search. With flexible dates, search two or three nearby dates and compare.
- No mobile app — it runs in the browser at flightgpt.in.
- It doesn't hold fares, issue tickets or handle changes and refunds; the provider you booked with does.
What happens to your data
Your chat is kept for 48 hours so you can pick up where you left off, then deleted. FlightGPT keeps anonymous search records — route, date, number of results and the lowest fare — and publishes them as fare data, like the tables on cheap flights from India. It never sees your payment details, because you pay on the provider's site. Full details are in the privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions
Is FlightGPT free to use?
Yes. Searching and chatting are free, and FlightGPT adds ₹0 to the fares it shows. Partner travel agents pay FlightGPT a commission on bookings or a fee per visit instead.
Does FlightGPT sell flight tickets?
No. Since September 2026 FlightGPT has worked as a metasearch: it compares fares and a tap opens the provider's site, where you enter traveller details and pay. The provider issues the ticket and handles changes.
How does FlightGPT find the cheapest fare?
It sends each search to all its sources at once — Google Flights listings, which cover airlines and online travel agents, and partner travel agents such as Tatkal Flights — merges the same flight from different sources into one row and shows the lowest of the offers for it, cheapest flight first.
Why is the price different on the travel partner's site?
Fares change constantly. FlightGPT shows the quote from the moment of your search and may reuse it for about 10 minutes; if the fare moved after that, the partner's page shows the new one. Search again to compare.
Can I search for flights with children or infants?
Yes, for up to 9 passengers. Searches with children or infants currently show partner travel-agent fares only, because the Google Flights source returns adult fares.
Can FlightGPT alert me when a fare drops?
Not as of October 2026 — FlightGPT has no fare alerts. Search again every few days, or set price tracking on Google Flights for the same route.
Can I search a whole week or month at once?
No. FlightGPT searches one date at a time. Each search takes about 5–15 seconds, so checking three nearby dates takes under a minute.
Does FlightGPT store my payment details?
No. You pay on the provider's site, so FlightGPT never sees card or bank details. Chats are deleted after 48 hours.
