What actually moves the price
Most of the gap between a cheap and an expensive ticket on the same route comes from four things you can control.
- The day. On Delhi–Mumbai, the lowest fare seen in 35 FlightGPT searches (₹6,261) was 12% below the typical lowest fare (₹7,148). Moving a trip by a day or two is often the biggest single saving, so search two or three nearby dates before you pick one.
- The time. On busy business routes the 6–9 am and 6–9 pm flights fill first. Late-night and early-afternoon departures are where the lower fares tend to sit.
- Non-stop or one-stop. A connection can be cheaper, but count the hours. A ₹600 saving for a five-hour layover is rarely worth it; on long routes with one daily non-stop, the connection is sometimes the only cheap option.
- Baggage. Low-cost fares on IndiGo, Akasa Air and Air India Express often include cabin baggage only on the cheapest fare type. Adding a bag at the airport costs more than adding it online, so compare the total, not the headline fare.
One more: some agents sell series fares — seats bought in bulk from the airline and resold. They are often below the airline's own price on the same flight, which is why FlightGPT includes a series-fare agent alongside Google Flights listings. Read how FlightGPT compares fares for the details.
How to read these numbers
The fares above are the lowest one-way economy fare for one adult that FlightGPT found in each search, for whatever travel date the traveller searched. They are a record of what people actually saw, not a live price and not a promise — fares change constantly. Round trips and searches for more than one passenger are left out, because their totals aren't comparable with a one-way adult fare. For today's fare on your date, ask FlightGPT.
