Day 1: Arrival in Kota Kinabalu

Arrive in Kota Kinabalu, clear visa-free immigration and transfer to your hotel. Settle in and enjoy the waterfront at sunset, with dinner at one of the seafront restaurants for which KK is known.

Day 2: Mt Kinabalu foothill day trip

Day trip to the foothills of Mt Kinabalu, Southeast Asia's highest peak, visiting Kinabalu Park and viewpoints, often with a stop at the Poring Hot Springs or a canopy walk. Return to KK for a relaxed evening.

Day 3: Manukan Island snorkelling

Boat trip to Manukan Island in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park for snorkelling over coral reefs, swimming and beach time. Return to the city in the afternoon and enjoy a leisurely seafront dinner.

Day 4: Kota Kinabalu at leisure

A free day in KK for the Sunday market (if timed), Signal Hill viewpoint, or a relaxed pool day. Optional sunset cruises are popular here. Keep the evening easy ahead of the flight to Sandakan.

Day 5: Fly to Sandakan + Sepilok orangutans

Fly to Sandakan and visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre to see semi-wild orangutans at feeding time, along with the nearby Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Transfer to your jungle lodge for an immersive overnight with full board.

Day 6: Sandakan river safari

Take a river safari along the Kinabatangan or a nearby waterway in search of proboscis monkeys, macaques, birds and other wildlife, typically on dawn or dusk cruises when animals are most active. Return to Sandakan for your final night.

Day 7: Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Sandakan airport for your flight home, typically connecting via Kota Kinabalu or Kuala Lumpur. Allow time for the connection on your return routing.
