Essence of Europe day-by-day itinerary (7N/8D)
Day 1: Arrive Rome
Land at Rome Fiumicino, clear immigration, and meet your tour manager. Transfer to your hotel and check in.
Day 2: Rome city tour and Vatican
Full-day guided coach tour covering the Colosseum exterior, the Roman Forum, Circus Maximus, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps.
Day 3: Drive to Ferrara
After breakfast and check out, drive north through Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna to the medieval town of Ferrara, about six hours with a lunch stop on the way.
Day 4: Ferrara to Milan
After breakfast, drive west to Milan, about three hours. Afternoon orientation tour of Milan covering the Duomo, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele.
Day 5: Milan to Zurich
After breakfast and check out, drive north across the Italian-Swiss border to Zurich via the Gotthard tunnel, about four hours with a scenic Lake Lugano stop.
Day 6: Mt Titlis excursion
Depart by coach for Engelberg, the gateway to Mt Titlis. Ride a series of cable cars ending with the rotating Rotair to the 3,020-metre summit for a glacier.
Day 7: Interlaken excursion
Drive south to the lake-flanked alpine town of Interlaken. Walk through the Hoheweg promenade with views of the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau peaks.
Day 8: Depart Zurich

Do Indian passport holders need a visa?
Yes. A Schengen visa is required and is included in the package fee. We will share the document checklist and book your VFS appointment after the booking is confirmed. Apply at least 30 days before departure.
What is the weather like in May and June?
Late spring to early summer with daytime temperatures of 18 to 26 degrees in Italy and 14 to 22 degrees in Zurich. Mt Titlis is below zero year-round. Pack a heavy jacket for the snow day and lighter layers for Italy.
Are vegetarian and Jain meals available?
Yes. All dinners are at Indian restaurants and most offer Jain options on prior request. Hotel breakfasts have vegetarian items though they are continental in style.
Is there a minimum or maximum age?
All ages welcome. Travellers above 75 are requested to share a fitness declaration. The Mt Titlis cable cars are fully enclosed and family-friendly.
How fit do I need to be?
Moderate. Expect 5 to 7 kilometres of walking per day on cobbled streets, several short staircases at attractions, and long coach drives between cities.
What should I pack?
Layered clothing, a heavy jacket and gloves for Mt Titlis, a compact umbrella, comfortable walking shoes already broken in, a power adapter for the European two-pin socket and Swiss type J, and any personal medication.
Can I extend the trip on my own?
