A deeper, two-park Northeast circuit that adds Manas National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Bhutan border — to Kaziranga and the Meghalaya hills. Over eight nights you visit Guwahati's Kamakhya temple, the Shillong and Cherrapunji highlands with their famous waterfalls and caves, and take elephant and jeep safaris at both Kaziranga (for one-horned rhinos) and Manas (for diverse wildlife in a scenic Himalayan-foothill setting with Bhutan views). All transfers are by AC vehicle, with eight nights in 4-star hotels and jungle lodges. Honest note: safari types and zones depend on park rules and availability, wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, and Manas is quieter and more remote than Kaziranga; the region's waterfalls peak after the rains. A rewarding itinerary for keen wildlife and nature travellers. starting at INR 60,000 per person. Covers Guwahati 1N, Shillong 2N, Kaziranga 2N, Manas 2N, Guwahati 1N.

Northeast Wildlife & Hills — Kaziranga, Manas, Shillong day-by-day itinerary (8N/9D)

Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati

Fly into Guwahati and check in. Visit the hilltop Kamakhya temple, a major Shakti shrine, and perhaps the Brahmaputra riverfront at sunset. Settle in and rest after the journey, ready to begin the hills-and-wildlife circuit the next day across Assam and Meghalaya.

Day 2: Guwahati to Shillong

Drive up to Shillong, the Scotland of the East, pausing at the scenic Umiam Lake. On arrival, visit Elephant Falls and, weather permitting, Shillong Peak for city views. Explore the bustling Police Bazaar in the evening and check in to your hotel for the night.

Day 3: Cherrapunji excursion

A full-day excursion to Cherrapunji, among the wettest places on earth, taking in the Mawsmai cave, the cascading Seven Sisters Falls and the towering Nohkalikai Falls, India's tallest plunge. The waterfalls are most spectacular after rain. Return to Shillong for an evening at leisure.

Day 4: Shillong to Kaziranga, safari

Drive down from the hills to Kaziranga and check in. Depending on timing, take an afternoon jeep safari into the grasslands to look for one-horned rhinos, wild elephants and deer, or visit the Orchid Park. Settle into your lodge near the park for the first of two nights.

Day 5: Kaziranga elephant and jeep safari

Begin at dawn with an elephant safari through the misty grasslands for close encounters with rhinos and other wildlife (subject to availability). Later, take a jeep safari in another zone for more rhinos, birds and possibly wild buffalo. Enjoy the afternoon at the lodge and overnight near the park.

Day 6: Kaziranga to Manas, evening safari

Drive from Kaziranga to Manas National Park, a UNESCO site on the Bhutan border, and check in. In the afternoon, take a jeep safari into the park's mix of grassland and forest, set against the Himalayan foothills, watching for wildlife. Overnight at a lodge near Manas.

Day 7: Manas safari and Bhutan border view

Take a morning safari (jeep or elephant, subject to availability) deeper into Manas, known for its varied wildlife and scenic beauty, with views towards Bhutan. There may be a chance to see the Bhutan border area near Mathanguri. Enjoy the tranquil, remote setting and overnight near the park.

Day 8: Manas to Guwahati

Drive back from Manas to Guwahati and check in. Use any free time for last-minute shopping for Assam silk or tea, or a relaxed riverside evening on the Brahmaputra. Rest after the wildlife-rich circuit, ready for your departure the following morning.

Day 9: Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Guwahati airport for your return flight home, completing the two-park Northeast wildlife and hills tour. Allow time for transfers and formalities.
