Switzerland Family Holiday Classic day-by-day itinerary (7N/8D)

Day 1: Arrival in Zurich

Land at Zurich, collect your Swiss Travel Pass and transfer to your hotel. Settle in after the flight, then take a gentle evening walk through the old town along the Limmat river. Have an early dinner and rest before the mountain days begin.

Day 2: Zurich to Lucerne

Travel by scenic train to Lucerne and check in. Explore the medieval old town, the wooden Chapel Bridge over the Reuss, and the moving Lion Monument. Take a relaxed cruise on Lake Lucerne, soaking up the mountain-ringed scenery, before an evening at leisure.

Day 3: Mt Titlis day

A highlight day from Lucerne to Mt Titlis. Ride the Rotair rotating cable car up to the glacier, walk through the ice cave and across the Titlis Cliff Walk, Europe's highest suspension bridge, and play in the snow. Dress warmly and allow for queues at peak times.

Day 4: Lucerne to Interlaken

Transfer by train to Interlaken, set between two lakes beneath the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau peaks. Check in, then stroll the Hoheweg promenade and the riverside. Spend a relaxed afternoon before the big Jungfraujoch excursion tomorrow, weather permitting.

Day 5: Jungfraujoch, Top of Europe

Take the cogwheel railway up to Jungfraujoch, the Top of Europe, for the Ice Palace, Sphinx observation deck and snow plateau. It is weather-dependent, so a clear day is a real treat; carry warm layers. Return to Interlaken for the evening.

Day 6: Interlaken at leisure

A flexible day around Interlaken. Options include a trip up to Harder Kulm for views over the town and lakes, a visit to Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen's waterfalls, or simply relaxing by the lake. Enjoy the alpine setting at your own pace.

Day 7: Return to Zurich, Rhine Falls

Travel back towards Zurich, stopping at the thundering Rhine Falls, Europe's largest waterfall, where a boat brings you close to the spray. Check in to your Zurich hotel and spend a final evening in the city, perhaps with some last shopping.

Day 8: Departure

Final breakfast and check-out, then transfer to Zurich airport for your return flight, ending the classic family tour of Switzerland's mountains and lakes.
