Valley of Flowers Trek day-by-day itinerary (6N/7D)
Day 1: Arrival in Haridwar
Arrive in Haridwar and check in. Attend the evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri and prepare your trek gear and rain protection. Rest ahead of an early start for the drive into the mountains.
Day 2: Haridwar to Govindghat
A long, scenic drive up the Alaknanda valley through Rudraprayag and Joshimath to Govindghat, the road-head for the trek. Check into a guesthouse and rest, ready for the climb the next day. Overnight in Govindghat.
Day 3: Govindghat to Ghangaria trek
Trek roughly 14 km from Govindghat (via Pulna) up to Ghangaria, the base village for both the Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib (ponies and porters available). Follow the river through forest, gaining altitude steadily. Overnight in Ghangaria.
Day 4: Valley of Flowers trek
Trek into the UNESCO-listed Valley of Flowers, an alpine meadow carpeted with hundreds of wildflower species in peak monsoon, with the Pushpawati river and glaciers as backdrop. Explore at a gentle pace (no overnight allowed in the valley), then return to Ghangaria.
Day 5: Hemkund Sahib trek
Take on the steeper trek to Hemkund Sahib at about 4,329m, a revered Sikh shrine beside a glacial lake ringed by seven peaks. Pay your respects and soak in the high-altitude setting (weather permitting), then descend back to Ghangaria for the night.
Day 6: Ghangaria to Govindghat to Joshimath
Trek back down to Govindghat, then drive to Joshimath. Relax after the descent and enjoy the valley views from this gateway town. Overnight in Joshimath.
Day 7: Joshimath to Haridwar - departure
After breakfast, begin the long drive back down to Haridwar, concluding the Valley of Flowers trek and your onward departure.
